Talented actor Jay Thakkar, popularly known for his role of Sethji in Colors’ Laagi Tujhse Lagan ventures into the digital platform with elan in Amazon Prime’s recently streamed web-series, Laakhon Mein Ek, created by noted stand-up comedian Biswa Kalyan Rath.
Jay who has worked in TV shows and commercial ads from a very young age has had a vast body of work in TV that includes shows The Adventures of Hatim, Karam Apnaa Apnaa, Gutur Gu etc. He has recently shot for a Hollywood – Russian movie titled ‘Rodina’.
Jay was on a hiatus from acting as he was busy with his 12th board exams… The young lad not only is talented when it comes to acting, but is also academically bright. After securing 92% in his 12th HSC Board exam, he is presently doing his Bachelors in Mass Media.
On his first project on the digital medium, Jay tells IndianWikiMedia.com, “I play the character of Abhishek Tiwari, fondly called Bakri by his friends in Laakhon Mein Ek. He is a guy from Bihar and has a typical dialect of that place. It was a real challenge to speak in the said dialect and lingo. It was a fun experience shooting for this Amazon Prime web-series. The entire team supported us. The director of the series Abhishek Sengupta was earlier the Director for many movies. I enjoyed being part of the project.”
Laakhon Mein Ek is a dark story of a teenage boy who is put under immense pressure by his parents to get into IIT and achieve academic brilliance, even though he is not inclined to doing well in the field. The web-series educates masses about the the attitude of the parents in today’s society wherein the pressure towards their children to achieve academic success, emotionally brings them down.
Talking about the concept, Jay Thakkar states, “This is a very emotional subject. It speaks about the academic pressure that parents put on their children without even gauging their plus and minus, as well as interests.”
Laakhon Mein Ek has Ritvik Sahore playing the central character of Aakash while Alam Khan and Jay Thakkar play his friends and close confidants.
Ultimately, it will be Jay aka Bakri who will help Aakash with a solution to his academic pressures!!
