The talented actor talks about following dreams, web content, current crop of actors and more…

Veteran film and TV star Rohit Roy, who is on a high after playing an important negative role in Hrithik  Roshan  lead Kaabil has opted out of a major upcoming Sony show.

He shares with Indianwikimedia. “The monthly 25 days Gujarat schedule was too hectic for me given the fact that I plan to start on my long awaited directorial film venture.  I also have a couple of films in the kitty.   Hence, after thinking a lot producer Siddharth Kumar Tewary and I decided to work together on our next project. I admit it was big juicy project which I let go,   but then you have to follow your dreams. I want to finish my film by next year.”

Rohit has also finished shooting for a short film directed by Farooq  Kabir which will be aired on Hot Star soon. “I don’t want to share more details.   The digital market is opening up with big players like Amazon Prime, Netflix and now our own Alt Balaji. It really feels nice when you get to play with different kinds of content. Web based content will really evolve in the coming decade. Since I now have some time I am in talk for a few limited web series as wel.”

Here Rohit, who was first noticed years back with  Swabhimaan and was last seen in Peterson Hill, attributes his sustenance to luck and also being  selective .“I never did more than one fiction show a time, expect once.  Also I guess since I came into the picture before the satellite invasion , I  am still known as  Rohit and not as the various characters  have played over the years. Today younger lot of actors become successful with one show,   but then gets lost in the wilderness due to stiff competition.   Having said that, these kids are much more good looking, talented and trained then we were back in the  late nineties,” he ends.

We wish him all the luck and success!!!

Update: Rohit Roy will be seen enacting the role of a news anchor in web series Memories to stream on Viu.
