Karanveer Mehra is quite enjoying the digital-making process. He has just uploaded the 16th episode of his and Barkha Bisht’s couple series, A Couple of Mistakes.

“At first, we did have some issue with sound lighting and décor, but slowly, we are ironing them out. I am getting good responses from the audiences,” he states.

“The biggest challenge for a web product is make an interesting, short-format story. It is something akin to a TVC, where you have to tell your story in a minute,” he adds.

“Also, one more thing is that digital audience is very fickle; you can’t lose their attention even for ten seconds. They also need to be engaged; if they feel they can guess the ending, you are history.  As digital content is mostly consumed on the phone, you need to make the characters very personal, as opposed to film and TV. Also, the story has to appear very real, be it good or bad,” he also states.

Coming to the revenue part, he says, “For the moment, we are making do with brand endorsements and limited YouTube revenue. Both are enough to keep us afloat for the moment. Right now, we are concentrating on building our bank with great content.”

Looking ahead, he wants to make more web series, “But in the comic space. We will try to build on the Meera and Ashwin brand.”

Karan, who was part of the Voot web series, It’s Not That Simple, informs us that he will not be a part of its Season 2. “I did not like the new role. Maybe we can work together in Season 3.”

He had also earned name and fame in SIT series, Men- The Real Victim.”
