On 55th birth anniversary of Rituparno Ghosh, the makers announced the cast of their film.

Acclaimed actors Paoli Dam and Lillette Dubey will be seen playing the lead role in Ram Kamal Mukherjee’s second Hindi directorial venture Season’s Greetings. The film is a special tribute to legendary filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh, and the cast was formally announced on the eve of Ghosh’s 55th birth anniversary on 31st August. Produced under the banner of Assorted Motion Pictures and SS1 Entertainments, the film will be co-directed by Abhra Chakraborty along with Mukherjee.

“I am extremely happy that two powerhouse talents have agreed to be a part of my film. I know Paoli personally, and have followed her body of work very closely. She will be playing the role of daughter, while Lillette mam (Dubey) will be seen playing the role of her mother. When you have such talented actors as a part of your team, your work becomes easier,” says director Ram Kamal.

Produced by Aritra Das, Shailendra Kumar, Vinay Agarwal and Yash Nagariya, the film will also introduce Pune based model turned actor Azhar Khan as male protagonist in the film. The film will be shot extensively in Kolkata after Durga Puja in October. “When Ram Kamal narrated me the story, I could see the subtle reference of Ritu da in the film. It’s something unique that he is trying to do. I can’t reveal much about the plot, but I can ensure that people will love the narrative. I have worked with Ritu da in Sob Charitro Kalponik, and he would always encourage me. I am glad that Ram Kamal is paying a tribute to him, which I think is a much deserving one,” said acclaimed actress Paoli Dam while talking about Season’s Greetings.

The film will be shot by Pravatendu Mondol, while the music will be composed by Shailendra Sayanti from Mumbai. “”I met Ram Kamal recently in Dubai at an awards function where he approached me for this role in Season’s Greetings. I told him  that during the shooting of Sonata, Rina di (Aparna Sen) had often spoken about Rituparno with great affection. I have seen a  few of his films and whenever we bumped into each other, he would tell me that ‘we must work together in a film soon !’ Unfortunately that never happened. I know Ram Kamal as an author and journalist, but when he narrated the screenplay to me, I found the story very interesting and I felt that he would be able to tell the story in an exciting and visual manner ,” says veteran actor Lillette Dubey.

After directing Esha Deol Takhtani in Cakewalk,  author turned filmmaker Ram Kamal Mukherjee will be seen directing his second Hindi film Season’s Greetings. This 30 minute short feature is a tribute to 12 times National Award winning director Rituparno Ghosh. The film will feature Paoli Dam of Hate Story fame and veteran theatre artist Lillette. Story penned by Ranjib Mazumder the film revolves around a mother and daughter relationship. “Unfortunately Paoli’s talent as an actress was never showcased in Bollywood. She is majorly perceived as glam quotient, but she is an extremely talented actor. I am sure this film will change everyone’s opinion,” says Ram Kamal.
