Krishna Singh Bisht talks about his small screen experience with Discovery JEET’s Mera Papa Hero Hiralal

Versatile actor Krishna Singh Bisht who has been part of noteworthy films Vicky Donor, Goliyon Ki Rasleela – Ramleela, Newton etc is happy with the limelight he’s sharing at the moment on the small screen!!

Krishna is presently part of the show ‘Mera Papa Hero Hiralal’ on Discovery JEET which has launched amidst all the positive buzz. In the emotional saga of the father and daughter produced by Vinyard Films, Krishna plays the role of Shankar, the close friend of Hiralal, played by Sarwar Ahuja.

Says Krishna, “After my film Newton, I was looking for a project which would give me good visibility and a role with diversity. I ended up getting offers for 3-4 films and that was the time when I got the offer for this Discovery JEET show. When I weighed the projects, I felt that I had to take up the TV show. I felt that since the new channel was to launch, there would be good visibility. Also, this concept was so very nice, unlike the usual saas bahu drama that sells on TV today. I am happy that I gave my nod for Mera Papa Hero Hiralal.”

Talking about his character, Krishna states, “In the otherwise emotional drama, my character brings in a light element. Shankar provides the breathing space for the audience. The role is shaping up well. The guy runs a garage in the day, and enjoys his card sessions at night with a group of friends. He is street-smart, fun-loving at the same time filled with emotions too. As the story will progress, the character will get to play more.”

Krishna shares a very good offscreen rapport with Sarwar Ahuja and the little girl, Rivaa Arora. “Half the job gets done if you gel well with your co-actors off the screen. It is like a family ambience on the set. Sarwar and I are more like friends, and it is fun to shoot with Rivaa. When the offscreen chemistry is good, the bonding actually reflects on the screen too.”

Along with the Discovery JEET show, Krishna recently shot for a Spanish film titled ‘Alex’s Strip’, which again is the story of a father and daughter. “My role in the movie was so different from that of Shankar’s. It was my first experience shooting for an international film. However, the team shot 80percent of the film in Rajasthan. My character was that of a Mulsim guy who was very intense. Being an actor rooted to my Hindi values, I enjoyed the welcome change of delivering dialogues in English. I was more than comfortable in the new ambience. This experience gave me the confidence of making it large as an actor,” Krishna quips.

For the time being, Krishna will want to invest his time and energy in making his role Shankar work. “The team is very upbeat post the launch. The response to the show has been great. We will work hard as a team to give our best.”

Wish you and the show all the luck, Krishna!!
