In conversation with Aishwarya Sakhuja

I am very excited to have found another life in life, apart from hubby Rohit Nag - Aishwarya Sakhuja

Talented and good looking actor, Aishwarya Sakhuja, is quite a sporty lady. No wonder, after challenging her fears in Khatron Ke Khiladi (2016), she is now sprucing up her tennis skills as part of Mrunal Jain’s Tennis Premier League, where she, along with fellow TV beauties, Pooja Gor, Rashmi Desai, Sumona Chakravarty and Tejaswi Prakash, is heading various squads. “I head Black Panther. When Mrunal came up with this idea of providing budding tennis players with the skills that can make them choose this sport as their occupation, I immediately said yes. For I feel that tennis is not yet given its respect,” says this former Miss India finalist, who made her mark with Saas Bina Sasural.

“At first, I would regard tennis as a very good-looking sport, but now, learning with the professionals, I realize that not only is it a very difficult and strenuous sport, but you also end up losing weight and honing your skills. I am very excited to have found another life in life, apart from hubby Rohit Nag.”

Indeed, nice.

She further shares: “The very purpose of creating teams was to fester a sense of competition, which makes one raise their bars a notch. All squads will work in tandem, with the sole aim of providing India with more international caliber players. We also hope that this will encourage the government to do more for this sport.” When we ask as to why professional actors are taken for sports, she says, “We actors are supposed to imbibe every aspect of life, be it dance, sports or anything, and if I get to learn from the best, it will only add a feather in my cap, thereby allowing me to do a better job in a future sports film. The matches have yet to start, but yes, we are already having a gala time at the photoshoot and talent hunt. It will soon air on a digital platform.”

Here she says, “Unlike earlier TV sports properties, e.g. BCL, we are pure sports, having no added drama, for our TG is hard-core tennis buffs.”

Talking about attire, she says, “We will be wearing tennis skirts and jerseys in our team colors. Nothing will be done to harm the decorum of the (tennis) court.”

Looking ahead, she would be game for more bahu roles on TV. “I enjoyed my last SAB TV show, Trideviyaan, where we daughters-in-law doubled up as secret agents, in tandem with our father-in-law (Rituraj Singh).”
