Good looking actor, Mukul Harish, is enjoying his negative stint in new Colors show, Udaan, as Rajeshwari Devi’s son, Vikram. For the first week, his face was not even revealed.
“It is always fun to essay different types of characters. I have dabbled in the bad guy zone before, but this is my meanest avatar so far. It is fun being bad. On a more serious note, as an actor, it is our job to bring the written material to screen to the best of our abilities.”
Talking about being a part of Udaan, Mukul says, “It is a matter of pride to be associated with such a known property. Unlike others, we are not your regular saas-bahu drama; rather, we deal with very hard-hitting social concepts with a message to boot.”
Coming to his co-stars, Ahmedabadi Mukul says, “Vijayendra Kumeria, hailing from the same town, we know each other. I also go back a long way with Rajeswari and Nikki (use their real names), so it is cool.”
He, further, refuses to comment on Udaan making a comeback, saying, “As an artist, it is my job to do my scene, which I am doing. As for other things, the channel knows better and I don’t want to intrude into their space. All I will say is that TV is unpredictable where sometimes, ratings alone don’t save or sink a show,” says Mukul, who last did a guest appearance in Sony show, Dil Hi Toh Hai.
He is quite happy with the 7 pm slot, for it has housed big shows like Saath Nibhana Saathiya for seven long years. “Slots are not that important, content is. Rajeev Khandewal became a household name with Kahin Kissi Roz at the 11 pm slot, which back then was a virgin slot.”
Mukul, who has been around for years doing consistent good stuff(Annu Ki Ho Gayee Wah Bhai Wah, Meet Mila De Rabba and Pavitra Rishta), is hopeful that one day he will get the big ticket leads.“I am on the job and don’t believe in pulling stunts to get noticed. I’d rather let my work speak for itself.”
Besides TV, he is game for juicy web assignments,“ which are much more realistic,” he ends.
