Iqbal Khan talks about his new TV endeavours...

It's fun playing negative: Iqbal Khan

TV heartthrob Iqbal Khan has no major grouse of entering a running show. This good looking  Kashmiri lad is nowpart of Colors’ show Dil Se Dill Tak.

“Whenever I join any ongoing project,  the story going forward always revolves around me so technically, we have an  80% new plot. And yaar… being around for years  it does not take me more than three or four days to get the hang of things and gelling up with my co- stars as well.  I am having a good time with Rashami Desai, Jasmin Bhasin and  Rohan Gandotra,” says he in his enchanting baritone.

Here, he refuses to talk much about the characters ‘except that he is Delhi guy  with lots of good attitude and swagger’.

“And most importantly he is totally smitten.  This may sound cliched but I have not done something like this before in my 13 years long career.”

Coming to his other Star Bharat show Kal Bhairav Rahasiya which is heading to a conclusion he says, “ It was fun playing negative.  What I best like about the plot was that it  is very massy.  The makers began well,  maintained tempo and yes, are now ending it on a high. Tell me which producer will take an expense of an outdoor shoot at the far end when all just want to cut corners to save a buck,” says  Iqbal who has done hit shows like Kaisa Ye Pyar Hai, Chhoona Hai Aasmaan, Waaris and Pyaar Ko Ho Jaane among others.

He further adds: “For me, the shade of the character is secondary, what is more important is what he is doing and  why.  If I feel that I can easily absorb myself in the character adding my bit to raise the value I say yes.   Having said that fans do have an issue with  their favourite turning negative. Luckily, I have not experienced such anger even when I played the dark shade in Ek Tha Raja  Ek Thi  Rani as well.  The bottom line is to do justice to whatever character you get, as you have to respect you profession, once you do that magic automatically happens and you get appreciation.”

Looking ahead he is open to web series,  “As these quickies offer us stuff which we can’t do on TV.   Though most web is full  of s*x I have just loved ALTBalaji shows like Haq Se and Romil  & Jugal.  They were really different and caught my attention for sure.”

We wish him luck and success.
