Mentoring someone is a great feeling: Ankur Nayyar

Ankur Nayyar, who has been around TV space for a long while,   does not believe that equations between co stars are cut throat.

“I have made several good friends out here, the guys who inspired me to take up fitness and investments are both from the same frat. The only problem is that you are in constant   touch only as long as your combined project is on the floor, for we then hang out together after shoot and go for parties etc.  But obviously once the project ends, you obviously don’t have time to mix as everyone has his or her own priority. This does not mean that friendship is reduced though, ultimately boils down to interpersonal equation between two individuals, obviously which varies from person to person.  Having said that, yes, when we normally meet each other the camaraderie is still warm, there is no bad blood, “says Ankur to IndianWikiMedia.

Coming to his current Star Plus project Meri Durga, where he plays a hockey coach, he says, “Mentoring someone is a great feeling.  Plus I bring my personal fitness mantra to the table as an actor.”

Here, he admits that the actual coaching process is shown less, with emotions ruling the TV roost. “The type of emotions differs depending on what kind of relationship the character’s share, like my equation with my protégé will be different than what she shares with her love interest.”

When we ask as to what went wrong with his Life OK show Chandrakanta, he says: “I do not really know what clicks or not.   Having said that I think we were doing decent, it is just that the channel only shut down to make way for Star Bharat. ”

Ankur has really gown as an actor over the years, “At first when I started back in 2001 (Kasautii Zindagii Kay) it was tough. But working with great directors and co stars has helped me along the way. Also I guess the quality of projects (Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki and Yahaaan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli etc) chosen also plays an important role in deciding your graph and space .”

Do you feel that male actors of your age get their due? “Well, I can’t speak for others but I have been satisfied with the kind of projects I have got over the past few years. I had earlier also played coach (guru) role in Maharana Pratap. Then I went on to essay the strong role of Meghnath in Siya Ke Ram etc.”

Have a great stint ahead, Ankur.
