Shweta Bhattacharya, aka Daali of Star Bharat show, Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki, now wants to widen her horizon. She would be game for a Hindi web series as well.
Says the actor, “But yes, I will not be able to go dare-bare. In fact, when I was first offered the Daali character, I was unsure, for firstly, I am not very good in Hindi, and secondly, the character had quite a bold dressing style.”
Jai Kanhaiya is the remake of popular Bengali serial, Bhojo Gobind, where Bengali actor, Swastika Dutta, pulled out all stops in the same department.
“I told the creative team that I will not be able to carry off hot pants, as I don’t have the required body as well. I offered to show the boldness in acting, rather than on screen. Luckily for me, they also did not want to go too bold themselves, as they were targeting the family audience. I was told to do as I wished, just put in your heart and soul into the character. Here, I wish to thank Star Bharat and Star Jalsa teams, for having the confidence in me.”
“I am also working on my Hindi with the help of Hindi tutors. It is indeed a challenge, for if you know the language, you can improvise if you forget your lines. But I am glad that my hard work is being appreciated and the show is getting good ratings,” says Shweta.
Shweta, who is a well known name in the Bengali TV frat, says, “I am really glad to have got this show, for it allowed me to show my fans another, different facet of mine (stubborn girl who does what she wants). Prior to this, they had seen me essaying a deaf–mute and a housewife.”
In closing, we ask if she is as stubborn in real life. “I am headstrong about work, but Daali really goes overboard. Having said this, there is a reason for her behavior. Having always lost those whom she has loved, she had turned her into a rebel.”
