TV shows are time consuming: Mrunal Thakur 789960

Mrunal Thakur of Kumkum Bhagya tells IndianWikiMedia that she will continue to shy away from desi fiction for the moment.  She had taken a sabbatical after three years small screen stint for trying her luck in films.

“I am waiting for my debut international project Love Sonia (based on human trafficking) to release.  Besides this project, I have a few other film offers as well; I might pick up the best from amongst them.”

“One of the main reasons why I am staying away from TV because shows are very time consuming and will not leave me time for films where my heart is. And I don’t want to leave my small screen producers in the lurch in such an eventuality which is not a good thing. ”

Mrunal does accept that taking a TV break is a risk, “Having said that, everything in life is a gamble. I know if my film career eventually does not take off, I can always come back to TV and Marathi films. I am currently trying my hands at various facets of the entertainment space.  I recently did two international (Indonesian) TV projects- one fiction and other non-fiction.  Plus I am doing a series of commercials as well.”

Talking about her TV journey so far, she says, “It has taught me lot about various aspects of the craft. I began with Sai Deodhar production’s  Mujhse Kuchh Kehti…Yeh Khamoshiyaan which had many theatre artists.  And rubbing shoulders with them honed my acting skills as well.   Likewise the time constraints of TV are such that you need to be very aware about the technical aspects as well. This really helped me in my film journey recently when I was shooting for Love  Sonia which boasts of big names such as Freida Pinto, Demi Moore, Manoj Bajpayee, Richa Chadda, Anupam Kher among others.”

In closing Mrunal says, “One of the main reason why I opted  for an off beater for my international film (Love Sonia) debut apart from doing the drive in me to enact a strong role, was also  to do my bit towards helping women who get trapped in  the flesh trade.  I am aware of how women are forced into this; many times their parents are forced to sell their daughter to pay off their debt.  If I can l save five Indian women from this trap I will feel happy.”

Indeed a great intention…we wish her luck and success!
