We have always seen Neelu Vaghela, aka Bhabo, of Diya Aur Baati Hum, in a very serious avatar. But now this highly talented actor will next be seen in a comic avatar in new Sony show titled, Main Maike Chali Jaungi Tum Dekhte Rahiyo (Dheeraj Sarna).
“Lead girl played by Sristhi Jain, keeps leaving the house of her poor husband, essayed by Namish Taneja, and returning back at the instance of her lawyer mother (my character), Satyadevi,” says Neelu.
“All the characters are very sweet in this situational comedy. Satyadevi really torments her husband as well. She has firm belief in women’s lib, and whenever she walks into the courtroom, everyone is scared about which marriage will now end up in divorce. All said and done, she loves her daughters, yet has a distinct aura around her. In a fun way, we wish to educate today’s wives not to trouble their husbands and in-laws, as life is beautiful and should be enjoyed,” she adds.
Neelu has been very lucky to keep getting good work. After her six-year long Diya Aur Baati Hum stint, she quickly got Tu Sooraj, Main Saanjh Piyaji, which was a sequel to the above show. Hence, Bhabho continued to live on.
“When the latter wrapped up in May this year, I thought it would take me a while to shed the Bhabho image. But within days, I started shooting for this project, which begins on 11th September.”
Here, Neelu admits, “It is not easy to make people laugh, and in my case, the job was tougher, for I had to shed the hard Bhabho image- she would never even smile- and imbibe myself in Satyadevi’s persona. We all, including the writers, have worked very hard to make sure that audiences love my new role as well. I am very hopeful that my fans will continue to stand by me as before.”
Point out that Sony shows never rate well, and she says, “I know, but they work on sweet concepts. One of the main reasons for a yes to this project was to prove my versatility. I am hopeful that it will run for a long time, which will look good on my CV as well.”
