In conversation with Ashlesha Sawant

I wanted to try out historical genre, hence took up Porus: Ashlesha Sawant

Talented and good looking Ashlesha Sawant, currently seen in Sony TV show Porus, will soon be seen in a lead role, either in the broadcast or digital space.

“I rather not give out details and let the concerned people make the relevant announcements,” says the pretty actress to IndianWikiMedia.

“Ashlesha, who has been around for years doing important shows like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kahiin To Hoga, Saat Phere and Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara, has no regret that her lead time has only come now.

“I began with a lead role few years back, and then went on to do important character roles in many well known shows.  As a character artist you get to experiment with all kind of shades unlike leads, who are just white.  I have been always quite satisfied with what I get and always go with the flow,” says she.

So did she miss out the huge money and fan following which leads get? Well, if you are good in your craft you can get good per day.  As for fan following, I am glad that I am not ambushed by unnecessary fame and glitterati, I am living my life.”

Ashlesha adds:  “I guess with changing social mores, men are starting to evolve and they are now ready to look at things just from perspective of talent and not just age.   Also content is growing, yet we have a long way to go as even now while Sunny Leone film can release, a Padmavati faces a ban. I am an artist who wants her work to speak for itself. I will never let media in my make room and talk about how much I love my partner.”

While batting for new content, courtesy digital, Ashlesha is sad that today most web series makers are adding s*x and abuse just for eyeballs. “Hope a time comes when we have content like House of Cards etc. As for broadcast, I feel we are still unable to come out of the mass numbers, hence our shows are not really progressive.”

Coming to Porus she says, “This is one show which has lived up to all the tall talk.  I don’t have much of a role, I said yes for I wanted to try out the historical genre.  I play the foster mother of Porus, who is always caught between her adopted and real son.  The biggest challenge in a historical is that you can’t really interpret the character as you want to follow what is written given the personalities involved.  So this restricts the actor within.”

Well said, wish her luck!!!
