The SAB TV show Super Sisters (Optimystix Entertainment) will be going off air in just two months, due to low ratings. This Gaurav Wadhwa, Vaishali Takkar and Muskan Bamne starrer came on air only on August 18, and will bid adieu, sometime next month.

Now we give you more dope on what and why.

An actor on the show, who did not want to be named, says, “We all are in a state of shock. This decision just does not make any sense. You can’t take a call saying numbers are low, in such a short period, especially if you are trying to bring genre level changes, which always take time. Also, if you really wanted your experiment to succeed, why did you not put your money where your mouth is? In our case, there were hardly any promotions. We actors were chipping in on our individual levels.”

The source went on to say, “Apart from the producer taking a big hit, our financial pitches too have been queried by this unfortunate turn of events. Some of us had offers from big shows, which we declined, hoping that this differentiated concept will at least run for a year. But now we are left holding the proverbial sack.”

The source further added angrily, “The main reason given to us for the ending was quite hilarious. Supposedly, graphic costs were just not adding up, given the low numbers, leading to both production house and channel taking a joint call. But should not all of this have been factored in at the very outset?” fumed the source.

Point out that maybe the big success of a similar genre show, Aladdin – Naam Toh Suna Hoga, also on the same channel, was the final nail in the show’s coffin, and the source fired back, “You can’t compare the two. The former Arabian Nights story is a hugely popular tale; plus the graphics, writing and set design are at an altogether different level. Had you pumped in so much money and efforts into Super Sisters as well, maybe we too would rocked the ratings, but alas.”

Lead actor, Gaurav Wadhwa, denied any official knowledge about the show’s soon to happen demise. But added, “We too have heard about the same, and if that is the case, it must be true.”

He added, “Being just actors, we are not in a position to comment on what and why. All I will say is that ideally any show should be given a good enough time to find its feet. Two months is just too little.”

When asked about the graphics’ budget issues, he says, “No comment. Being a positive person, I’d rather take home the good time I spent with my co-stars. And yes, working with Optimystix Entertainment has been a great learning curve as well.”

In the interest of fairness, we tried to reach out to both producer and channel, but could not connect with them till the time of filing this piece.

All said and done, whatever be the reason, the fact remains that yet another TV show will go on to have a very premature ending!!
