FWICE strike gets nasty…

IndianWikiMedia has been constantly updating its readers and industry about the ongoing FWICE strike which as per witnesses is taking a nasty turn.

The FWICE strike has failed to create an impact as shooting of almost all major shows are on, thus highlighting the question that if all workers are indeed on the sets, who are protesting outside the Filmcity gates?

“All workers are inside, they have got hired goons who are creating a ruckus,” says an angry industry man.

The scenes are getting tensed and out of hand as frustration mounts among protesters. And the tension reached a crescendo when the protesters organized a mock funeral of IFTPC head J D Majethia. (check video below).

The action drew the ire of all governing bodies. All major industry bodies which till now did not oppose the strike officially, have now condemned it with an iron fist.

Here’s the letter of condemnation:

Talking about the same Ashoke Pandit from IFTDA shares with IndianWikiMedia: “Six major bodies which form the core member of the Federation has condemned the strike.  We are creative people and the proceedings that have shaped up is absolutely wrong. First of all, we were not informed about the strike and now when it’s on, it’s taken an ugly shape.”

Amit Behl, Joint Sectt from CINTAA says: “It’s rather unfortunate that a respected body like the Federation and its office bearers have allowed such a ghastly act of organizing a mock funeral. Strike is the last option, there has to be educated discussions. This is not the way how one should act.”

Sushant Singh, Hon Sectt adds, “Collective bargaining shows true strength. We have our set of grievances against producers and broadcasters, but we believe in dialogue and putting our point across in a right manner.

The protests would continue tomorrow but there is no solution at sight as of now.

The latest we have learnt is that  Federation body Association of Cine & TV Equipment Supplier (light vendors), which has joined hands with FWICE in the strike just yesterday, has also withdrawn its support from the strike.

IndianWikiMedia would keep a close eye on further developments.
