Amazon Prime Video acquires the exclusive digital rights of an all-new Indian animated series, Inspector Chingum

Amazon Prime Video offers a summer bonanza for kids with Inspector Chingum

Amazon Prime Video is all set to make the summer exciting for children with an all-new animated series – Inspector Chingum. A spin-off from the iconic toon, Motu Patlu, and is based on popular stories from Lotpot comics, Prime Members now have access to all-new episodes of this brand new show.  Inspector Chingum revolves around the bonds of friendship and the importance of discipline rolled into a crime solving series. Children can enjoy the adventures of Inspector Chingum and his assistants as they work together to make Shantiwood a No Crime City.

Inspector Chingum boasts of high quality 3D animation and packs both action and comedy. With a fun storytelling style, the show also features funky rap songs by one of the pioneers of Indian rap, Baba Sehgal. Every episode will have a special song and this is one of the biggest highlights of the series.

The series features an entire album of 52 songs created by singer and rapper Baba Sehgal. While speaking about the creating the album for the series, Baba Sehgal said, “It was great fun creating songs for the Inspector Chingum series. I give voice to a character called Superstar Chocolate, a trusted friend and aide of Inspector Chingum. The songs are catchy, with fun tunes and sing-along lyrics that I am sure children will love. It was quite a thrilling and unique experience creating music for a young adult audience.”

Inspector Chingum, the Police in-charge of Shantiwood Police station, hails from a small village and has a strong South Indian accent. Chingum is kind and helps everyone who requests his help. Chingum goes about performing his duties with a lot of enthusiasm. His misadventures make his character very comical, yet action-oriented. Chingum’s dream of making Shantiwood a Zero Crime City makes him a strong believer that without his consent; no crime can take place in his town.  Chingum is faced by a vicious villain – No Baal, who wants to take-over Shantiwood and its people. No Baal secretly owns the Crime University, which regularly dispatches villains every now and then to fight and defeat Chingum. Chingum is accompanied by his two assistants Hera and Pheri, along with Khabrilal, Chatur, Dosa Anna and Bozo.

Bullish on the development, Anish Mehta, CEO Cosmos-Maya said “We are an IP focused company and the launch of Inspector Chingum is in line with our vision. Inspector Chingum boasts of a never seen before animation style. It has always been a pleasure working with Amazon Prime Video and we look forward to many more collaborations in the future.”
