Aahana Kumra, born and brought up in Lucknow, had an inclination towards acting since childhood when she began theatre roles. She completed her graduation from Whistling Woods International Institute, Mumbai. Soon after she completed school, she involved herself with the Prithvi Theatre in Mumbai where she eventually realized that the stage is her first love. From being a backstage helper to selling tickets, she enjoyed every aspect of the wondrous world of Theatre.
Her professional stint with theatre began with Akvarious Productions and she went on to do several plays with Naseeruddin Shah’s theatre company – Motley – where she played leading roles in productions such as ‘By George’ and ‘Arms and the Man’.
She started her acting career in 2009, with the role of Tisha in the short film ‘Mai.’ She was featured in numerous commercial advertisements for popular brands like Garnier, Red Label Tea, SBI Life Insurance, Revlon, Cox & Kings, etc.
Aahana has also won the Best Actress Award at the 3rd Noida International awards for her performance in the short film ‘Siberia’ (2015). She made her Hindi feature film debut in Sona Spa in 2013, and her Tulu feature film debut in 2015 in Kudla Cafe. She acted in the web series- ‘Official Chukyagiri’. She has also hosted the ‘Pro Kabaddi’ 2016 series on Star Sports.
Kumra had a leading role in the black comedy film Lipstick Under My Burkha as Leela. The following year she portrayed the role of Priyanka Gandhi in the political biography film The Accidental Prime Minister. Both are her roles were greatly appreciated. She also won the star screen award for her excellence acting in a supporting role in Lipstick Under My Burkha.
She is an extremely talented actor with a lot of passion and tons and tons of knowledge about her work.
