Karan Singh, a psychological illusionist, needs no introduction.

The talented man has carved a niche for himself, and has started a new age of street magic by being different from the rest.

In an interview with IWMBuzz.com, Karan talks to us about his journey, on how he started a new age of magic in Delhi and became a star.

Tell us about yourself…

I was born in the year 1991 in Mumbai, but later moved to Delhi in 1995. I did my schooling and college in Delhi. My first performance was in school. I was in the 10th grade. When I pulled off a trick, the audience erupted into applause. It felt amazing and then I realized that this is what I want to do in life. In college, I knew that academics is not for me. I joined Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College, but dropped out in the third year; shows had already started to come in and I realized that B Com wasn’t for me.

Did your parents support you?

Initially, my parents were a little apprehensive. They just wanted me to have a good career. However, when I started getting shows and became something, they understood and supported me. I am a Sardar, so my relatives were orthodox. Even today, some fail to understand, but they are happy seeing me enjoying what I am doing as a career.

When did you realize your talent?

I was 11 and inclined towards magic. Hence, I was also learning it. However, I never thought that I would take it up as a profession. But when I started getting attention from viewers for it, I decided to make it my career.

Who is your inspiration in your field?

I am inspired by David Blaine and Derren Brown. I like their style, and look up to them. I have personally met both of them; it was like a dream come true.

How has web helped you to become a star?

I believe everything started with the internet. I used to watch YouTube videos and learn from there. Later, I made a Facebook page and started posting photos and videos. When the page started growing, I felt happy. I couldn’t imagine that kind of response from the followers. I received hatred too, but in this world, I have realized that you can’t please everyone.

Way to go, Karan!
