Indian cricket-themed series Inside Edge has been selected as one of four nominees in the Drama Category of the 46th International Emmy Awards. The awards gala will take place in New York on November 19.

The story of Inside Edge revolves around cricket and its dark side, which involves the business world, the world of glamour and entertainment and politics that goes around it. It was told through characters essayed by Tanuj Virwani, Richa Chadha, Vivek Oberoi, Sidhhant Chaturvedi, Sanjay Suri, Sarah Jane Dias, Sayoni Gupta and Angad Bedi.

Talented actor Tanuj Virwani, who plays an important character in the series, is elated about ‘Inside Edge’ getting nominated for Emmy Awards.

Talking about the same, he shares, “We were in Georgia shooting for the season 2 of the series. We had no idea about the nomination. We have a Whatsapp group wherein someone posted about the news. Initially, I thought it is some kind of joke or prank which is being played on us. However, we soon learnt that it was true news and everyone was very happy about it. It boosted our moral and we celebrated the happy moment too.”

He further adds, “The event is taking place in November and we have a very tight shoot schedule hence I don’t think any actor would be able to make it to the Emmy. However, the producers will represent the entire team. I am personally very excited for the same.”

When asked what connected the series with the audience, “When we were in the making process, the web-series concept was new to the audience. We won hearts of audience during that time and I am happy that audience loved and accepted us. I think the storyline and the characters, which were well defined, attracted the viewers. Our intention was not to show the bad aspect of the sport but there is a dark side which everyone is aware of and we just showed that with a pinch of drama to it. We hope audience like the season 2 like they accepted the previous season.”

Good luck, Tanuj!
