Veteran TV and film actor Ashutosh Rana is the latest entrant in the digital space. He is part of a short film. IndianWikiMedia caught up with this actor, who impressed us all with his bad man act in super hit films Dushman and Sangharsh (among others), at the trailer launch of his next film Udanchhoo, where interestingly he essays a comic character.

“The web is the best thing for it brings the world into the palm of your hands.  You don’t need to go anywhere to access information and entertainment.  I will give out more details about my short film soon,” says Rana.

But what about the fact that s*x and abuse seem to dominate the World Wide Web entertainment landscape? “Well, all is this part of the process of churn; we are still trying to figure out things. Agreed this might be selling for the moment as it is giving us a high.  There is a wrong notion going around that sans abuse no art is possible, but it will peter out.  Only positive stuff remains with you for a long time. The problem happens when you start linking what is essentially a trend will change to culture and heritage. ”

Ashutosh, who was last seen on TV in Star Plus show Kaali – Ek Agnipariksha, will return to broadcast if something juicy comes around.  “I began with the small screen (Swabhimaan,) then moved to big one (Baadal) but despite  that I keep doing TV ( Waaris, Kabhi Kabhi and  Baazi Kiski) or any true blue artist the medium is secondary,   whenever you  get any opportunity to excel or better yourself, you should just go  for it.  Today the biggest of film stars are making a beeline to TV via hosting a game or a chat show. In TV, some content is very good while others are just ordinary, I have been lucky to  get very powerful  roles though.”

In closing, Ashutosh feels that the entertainment industry is being wrongly burdened with providing education to society. “Don’t take us too seriously.  Ironically on the flip side, today the centre of learning has been reduced to entertainment,” he ends.

We wish him all the luck.
