Hailing from a small village Dewas, Nikita Ahuja has made big with her Bollywood debut as a singer. The pretty lady, who is the voice behind ‘Veere’ from the latest Bollywood blockbuster Veere Di Wedding, has won accolades from the industry as well as audience.

Nikita, who is also a YouTube sensation, believes that it is the best platform to start your career, “I hail from a very small city and I have never learnt music too. However, I used to sing in college fests and realized my inclination towards music. With people loving my voice, I started performing at cafes. Later, I made my YouTube channel and started uploading my singing videos and surprisingly got good views. I think YouTube is the best platform. It was a stepping stone to my singing career. It has helped me a lot. Even One Digital company has been supportive throughout and they have been amazing.”

Talking about bagging Veere, she avers, “I moved to Mumbai and was assisting Vishal Mishra, the music director of the song. Later, he asked me give an audition. They wanted a new singer to sing the song. We were around 400 girls who auditioned for it. Rhea Kapoor loved my voice and I was on board. But others were also given chance to sing in chorus.”

Nikita believes that recreation of a song loses the magic. “I am not a fan of remake music. I feel a song should be recreated only if you can hold the magic of the same. The best part of an old song is the simplicity of it. One should not hamper with it.”

Finally, Nikita adds that she admires Arijit Singh’s singing.
