With Covid raging across the universe, the more dogged and ambitious elements from the Indian entertainment industry who had resolved to not bite the OTT bait, have had to clip their wings.

Big-screen blockbusters patiently waiting to release in movie theatres have realized that the wait won’t just be long but also futile. The first big-screen biggie to bite the bait is Prabhudheva-Salman Khan’s Radhe: India’s Most Wanted Bhai . For all his commitment to bringing his film to movie theatres for Eid, Salman has now had to back-track, seeing the way the Covid situation is going.

And now it is another expectant blockbuster’s turn to back-track from its pledge to release in movie theatres. Reliable sources inform that Rohit Shetty and Reliance Entertainment are now in deep negotiation over the simultaneous OTT –Theatrical release of the Akshay Kumar cop-actioner Sooryavanshi. The offer from the primary OTT players is in the range of 200-250 crore rupees.

A source close to the development informs, “Salman Khan broke that hesitation in taking the big-screen candidates down the OTT route . From here on it will be relatively easy for the biggies to bite the digital bait. If Salman can do it , why not the others?”
