The trailer of The Sky Is Pink has just been released, and from the looks of it, movie enthusiasts are in for a treat this October, when the movie will hit theatres in the country.

The Sonali Bose-directed movie appears to be a sensitive yet humorous account of a gravely unwell teenager, who recounts the poignant love story of her parents. Zaira Wasim plays a teenaged girl, diagnosed with an incurable, debilitating immunity-disorder disease, who narrates the sweet little love story of her parents, played by Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar.

The Sky Is Pink has been one of the most awaited Bollywood movies in recent times for various reasons. It marks Priyanka Chopra’s return to Bollywood after a hiatus of three years, post her high-profile marriage to Nick Jonas. The movie is also the last that Zaira Wasim is slated to appear in, after her controversial exit from the film industry. Another interesting fact is that The Sky Is Pink is Priyanka’s first where she is co-producing the movie along with acting in it. The film is produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Priyanka’s Purple Pebble Pictures.

The movie draws inspiration from the life of Aisha Chaudhary, a teenaged Indian girl who was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis at the age of 13. Aisha became a motivational speaker after being diagnosed with the disease, giving inspiration to thousands of youngsters, before losing the battle with the disease at the age of 18.

The Sky Is Pink is scheduled to hit screens on October 11. It is also scheduled to screen at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 13.
