Omkar Prakash Nayyar, popularly known as in the industry by his initials O.P. Nayyar was one of the best music composers, singers, music producers, musicians and songwriters of his time. Nayyar’s Birthplace was Lahore during the British India days. He was his composition debut with the movie Kaneezin 1949, and his music direction debut in 1952 through Aasmaan and from then on he went to become the Fusion king of the Bollywood music industry. He many times got opportunities to work with great singers like Asha Bhosle, Geeta Dutt, Mohammed Rafi but he never got a chance to work with the melodious queen Lata Mangeshkar.

Nayyar has been a receptor of many awards in his musical career like Filmfare for Best Music Director in 1958 for the song ‘Yeh Desh Hai Veer Jawanonka’ in the movie Naya Daur. Nayyar has contributed to many superhit movies like Mehbooba(1954), Jhonny Walker(1957), Tumsa Nahin Dekha (1957), Mujrim(1958), Kashmir Ki Kali (1964), C.I.D. 909(1967) and a lot more to follow in the list.

For also his contribution to the industry a commemorative stamp was issued by the Indian Post with his photo on it in 2013. In his living days Nayyar gained himself a reputed name as the Fusion King of Bollywood.
