Prachi Tehlan talks about her life journey and more with IndianWikiMedia

Acting is tougher than sports: Prachi Tehlan

The term multi-faceted is apt to describe talented Prachi Tehlan, the leading lady of Star Plus’ new show Ikyavan.  The Delhi bred girl first began as a sportswoman winning India its first hand ball medal in 2011.   After that she took up corporate job post pursuing an MBA programme.

She shares: “Non cricketing sports don’t really pay well. I guess destiny had something else written for me as I  got a role in Diya Aur Baati Hum (Arzoo) which I accepted after they assured me of giving proper workshops to prep up for the role.  But the way things finally fell I had to start without them.  I learnt on the job, full credit to my creative team which taught me all the technical parameters.”

Talking about Ikyavan, she goes on to say: “My entire tomboyish character (brought up by men) was quite easy to inculcate, thanks to my sports background. We are very comfortable with ourselves. ”

“Having said that if you would have seen the body language of the terrorist character in my first show, it’s completely poles apart from what I am playing now.   Again this is complete departure from my soon to start South film where I have an action avatar.”  She has also done of couple of Punjabi flicks.

She feels her earlier sports and corporate experience were stepping stone to her current job, “Sports background (height and body language) helped me net roles   and my corporate training has made me confident enough to face the media.”

Prachi feels acting is more tough a cookie than sports, “Latter is only physically draining but acting on the other hand is tougher for you not only need to look good but also deliver the required  emotions.   Plus, as this field is project dependent,   you are always worried about what next?”

Looking ahead while she would want to try out all kinds of challenging roles, she would not be open to bold characters: “I don’t want to do anything which my family will not like.”

She might also be a part of Lara Dutta’s upcoming film on Chhattisgarh state basketball team.  “They want players who can act. Right now there is nothing, but if it happens I would love to do it.”

We wish her luck and success.
