Pankhuri Awasthy, who has just entered Star Plus show, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, is very happy in her marriage with Surya Putra Karan co-star, Gautam Rode. “It has been one great year. The best thing about marriage is that you find a lifelong partner with whom you can share your happiness and sorrow.”

“The best thing about Gautam is that he is both very decisive and human in his actions. But yes, I wish that he stops repeating the same thing a thousand times over. He somehow feels that the other person will not listen in one go, so needs to keep saying it again and again.”

Did age not affect your decision when you guys were still unsure about each other (14 year difference)? “It was the first convo we had. Back then I assumed he was 44, when he was just 38. After that it never figured in our matrix. We were more concerned about getting to know each other and reaching a comfort level. Luckily, it was not a sticking point for either of our folks as well.”

Pankhuri, who started off her lead career with Razia Sultan, does not think that marriage makes your career easy. “Yes, it relieves the stress of not having someone to go back to, but not beyond that. In my case, I was lucky to get someone who is from my frat, so he understands where I come from.”

We then shifted gears to doing bold web series, which she said she was uncomfortable doing. “I know of many girls who aren’t, so they can do bold well, but not me.”

So how will you react if your better half does steamy scenes on the web, like he did in his last film, Aksar? Web shows have become steamer since then.

“Honestly, I would not know how I will react if he does some very risqué stuff. I am not sure if I will even like it. Having said that, I know that he will only accept those projects where this stuff is necessary and not added only for titillation.”

“Something similar was the case with Aksar. He was playing a guy whose one point agenda was to lay the girl, so what kind of scenes would you expect? I found it funny as I knew what was coming. For me, transparency is important in any relationship.”
