In conversation with the talented actor…

There are some actors who are blessed with divine features which put them on top of the preferred list pertaining to enactment of Godly roles. One such name is the indomitable Saurabh Raaj Jain, who via his myriad mytho avatars, have earned the sobriquet ‘TV God’.

Currently, the handsome lad is quite happy playing Lord Shiva in Colors’ popular entity Mahakali: Anth Hi Aarambh Hai (Swastik Pictures).

“Experience so far has been very good.  It was a tough decision for me to accept this role as it’s complete opposite to my prior  mytho outings (Mahadev and Mahabharat ), but producer  Siddharth Kumar Tewary sir’s conviction in me convinced me to take up the project. I am learning and enjoying every day,” says Saurabh in an exclusive chat with IndianWikiMedia.

So is mytho as a genre his comfort zone? “On the contrary, playing Gods on-screen is extremely challenging….in terms of keeping that composure and calmness intact throughout then performance. I have done fiction shows like Remix, Parichay and Uttaran…..they were fun but definitely less challenging.”

He further shares: “People talk about mytho shows being difficult due to gaudy heavy costumer and language. For me, that’s add on, what matters is the character and the conviction with which I enact it.”

Point taken. Talking about his television journey so far, Saurabh reminisces: “I started with youth based show like Remix, went on to do Parichay and Uttaran as guy next door and a negative guy respectively. Then I played Vishnu in Mahadev followed by  Krishna in Mahabharat. Post that I kept getting calls to play Krishna for various TV shows which I kept saying no due to one reason or another.”

“In the mean time, I anchored many shows like Savdhaan India, Bhakto Ki Bhakti Mein Shakti, and Mahapuran. I also flirted with  radio for a year and last but not the least also  did one movie down South movie titled Nagarjuna. Post that I got this opportunity to be Shiva in Mahakali with a complete different thought, which got me taking up this role. So far I am happy that I got to play so many performance oriented characters.”

In closing, Sourabh confesses that he has no qualms taking up a bold web series.

“Why not given it’s qualitative and content driven. Normally mytho actors stay away from bold stuff saying they don’t want to hurt sentiments of their fans who like them in Godly avatars. I am cool with it.”

We wish the talented actor more success and happiness.
