Bijal Joshi, who hails from Gujarat and is incidentally also essaying the role of a Gujarati lady – Bindu Desai in Sony Entertainment Television’s Ladies Special, feels the channel experiments with content.

She shares, “The best thing about the channel Sony is that they always come up with fresh and new content whether you look at Ladies Special, Parvarrish, Bade Acche Lagte Hai, Jassi Jaisi Koi Nai. I don’t watch TV that much but I know that Sony experiments with content. Their shows are a game changer. I had heard that Ladies Special was an amazing show, but when it was launched it was a finite series. I think they bring great shows. According to me, Sony believes in experimenting with content; hence they lack in numbers. However, I truly believe that they should continue experimenting or else we will have to watch regressive content all our life. There has to be someone who should take the initiative.”

Talking about her character, she says, “Bindu Desai is an ideal wife who believes in staying positive while facing any adversities as she strongly believes that positivity is the key to happiness. No matter what trouble that come her way, she meets them with a smile on her face. It makes it easy for me to portray such a character as my distinct Gujarati behaviour and chirpiness adds to my character’s vibrant bearing. There are a lot of similarities between my reel-real lives.”

She further adds, “I was super excited to do such a chirpy character as I always wanted to portray such a bubbly role. I loved Kareena’s character in Jab We Met and always wanted to play a character like that. Hence, there was no reason to say no to the character. The best part about this character is that you can relate to it. The issues that will come up in the show will be relatable and audience will feel a connecting factor to it. I wanted to do something fresh rather than doing saas-bahu subject.”

Bijal wants audience to watch Ladies Special. “It feels wonderful to be part of a show like Ladies Special which focuses on women and their lives. The show has a completely different perspective which highlights on how women meet problems head-on and find solutions for them without faltering. The show celebrates the bond of friendship. You should watch the daily as it is a very relatable subject.”

Good luck, Bijal!
