Vidhi Pandya talks about her Udaan journey

Not many in the Udaan team internally thought that we freshers could pull off the leap –Vidhi Pandya

Vidhi Pandya, aka Imli of cult Colors show, Udaan, is taking this Guruodev Bhalla project ending in her stride. “I am no one to comment on what and why; but yes, we are happy to be bowing out with grace. When the first generation shift had happened, back in 2014, there was lots of internal skepticism whether we, the younger lot of fresher female leads (Meera Deosthale and I), would be able to pull it off. But our track opened to a whopping 3.2. Even now, as we chug along to the last week of shooting, we are still garnering a decent 1.9, so are quite satisfied,” says she in a chat with IWMBuzz.com.

Did the above initial bad vibes affect your morale? “No. Being a confident person, I knew the importance of filtering out the nonsense and concentrating on the job ahead, which alone is the elixir of success.”

Any withdrawal pangs for you, as you do develop kinship with your cast and team after working with them for so long? “Again no, for life is about moving on to better things. And rather than moping around, I prefer looking at what I take home from Udaan. Playing several characters (old woman, pregnant woman and a sadhvi) in one show has taught me a lot about the acting craft, which will hold me in good stead down the road. TV actors seldom get so much to do. Unlike others, I am just not using glycerin and weeping away to glory.”

She continues: “The best thing about Udaan is the teamwork. Seeing the amount of hard work the writers and creative team put in, we actors also get encouraged to raise the bar.”

Ask her about the shift from positive to negative, and she says, “It was fun, but yes, it annoyed a lot of my fan base. However, the same goes on to show a job well done, for a vamp is supposed to be hated.”

Looking ahead, Vidhi, who has earlier done Balika Vadhu and Tum Aise Hi Rehna, now wants to try different kind of stuff.“I don’t have any bucket list, preferring to go with the flow. The role should just excite me enough.”

Besides TV, she is game for films and web series as well. “However, I am not comfortable with bold stuff as of now.”

We wish you all the best Vidhi, for your future endeavours.
