Host of The Voice on Star Plus, Divyanka Tripathi is confident of the show growing in numbers in the coming weeks. Read it here.

Soap superstar, Divyanka Tripathi, who for the first time has taken up an anchoring assignment for the STAR Plus big ticket reality show, The Voice, is taking the decent but not great opening as just a stepping stone to future success. “It’s going to grow on people…soon they’ll be addicted to it.”

The industry surely expected much more, given that this popular format, which earlier aired on &TV, now boasts of none other than musical giant A R Rahman as Super Judge. The other jury/mentors include Adnan Sami, Armaan Malik, Harshdeep Kaur and Kanika Kapoor. If you compare present ratings with previous adult contestants’ seasons, the difference in numbers is not huge. Yet, we have to factor in that the GRP of STAR Plus is much bigger. The task is cut out for the team, for unlike fiction shows, here there are few episodes, so no lag time.

Divyanka, who for the first time has worn glamorous western outfits, looks very chic. “Thankfully, I’m getting to try new things.”

She will also be playing chef in ALTBalaji’s upcoming web series Coldd Lassi aur Chicken Masala.

Talking about shifting from acting to hosting, she says, “It’s been years of work as an actor. Being an anchor is challenging for me, but I love to take challenges head on.”

Divyanka first came on the scene with the Zee TV show, Banoo Main Teri Dulhan. Later, she tried a few comic shows. Her second stint with success came with the ongoing Ye Hai Mohabbatein. She has also won Nach Baliye 2017 with better half, Vivek Dahiya.

It is often said that actors are not good anchors as mouthing given scripts and deft handling of impromptu situations are poles apart.

But so far, Divyanka is doing a fine job, getting the required empathy while talking to the chosen/rejected contestants and their families. “From battles stage, I’ll be more on stage. I’m looking forward to those episodes,” she ends.

IWMBuzz regards Divyanka as a close friend and wishes her lots of success, not only in The Voice, but also in all her future endeavours.
