The hype over Sony TV show refuses to die down and rightly so. In a time when Tinder romances are on the rise, this television serial takes us back to when to innocent romance of the 90s. And if you haven’t yet watched the show, you are seriously missing out.
No over the top characters, high-voltage saas-bahu drama or evil vamps set out to destroy lives. The show portrays simple characters with realistic relationships. And the 90s backdrop is the cherry on the top!
The movie references in certain scenes like exchanging shy glances, passing love letters, waiting patiently by the telephone for her to call, complete with romantic love songs – IWMBuzz has been filled with filmy clichés. And call us old school but we absolutely dig it!
In fact, even our Sameer (Randeep Rai) and Naina (Ashi Singh) had a filmy beginning to their romance – Sameer, the resident mischievous boy in class and Naina, the innocent girl-next-door. When they first meet, sparks fly and they fall in love.
Going on movie dates, taking long walks in the rain, sharing an umbrella, their young romance is beautiful to watch. A particular moment where Sameer waits by his phone to talk to Naina is so reminiscent of the Salman Khan-Madhuri Dixit Hum Aapke Hai Kaun movie scene.
Even their wedding celebrations were done in full filmy style. Like during the sangeet ceremony, Sameer and Naina performed an intimate number from the same movie dressed as Prem and Nisha which enough to create nostalgia.
Things got hot and heavy with the jodi when during their honeymoon. The two were seen in sizzling avatars grooving to the iconic song Kaate Nahi Katte Yeh Din Yeh Raat from the movie Mr. India starring Anil Kapoor and Sridevi. The steady sequence combined with Sameer and Naina’s chemistry had our hearts racing.
Oh and who can forget their first kiss! Having spent a blissful honeymoon returning home, Sameer and Naina shared their first kiss ala Aashiqui style by hiding under the jacket. Awww!
We cannot wait more such moments of such cheesy, filmy romance!
