Buzz is that Nazar might end soon

Is Star Plus' Nazar losing its evil eye on TV?

Every year most GEC (General Entertainment Channels) go for a major rejig of their programming schedule post IPL. 2019 seems to be no different and numero uno channel Star Plus plans to bring in a host of new shows.

To ring in the new, old has to make way. Now, as per our sources, the channel might also take a call on late night fantasy show, Nazar, starring Bhojpuri film actress and dancer, Monalisa.

This Gul Khan production (started on July 2018) was originally slated for six months, which ended at the start of the year. It was given an extension which will end in June. So now, will the channel take it off or continue with it is the big question mark. Obviously a decision will have to be taken very quickly, for either new tracks have to be written or a replacement show given the green signal to start work.

When we spoke to Ashita Dhawan, who plays the dimwitted Chaitali Rathod, she said, “Agreed, our contract does wrap up, but I don’t think it will go off as we are doing quite well.” Another source added to what Ashita said, by saying, “There are other shows on Star Plus that are doing worse than us (Dil To Happy Hai Ji and Divya Drishti), so if a call needs to be taken, they have other options to consider.”

Here our source adds, “It is not always only about numbers; sometimes the channel wants new strategies. If you remember, both  Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Sapna Babul Ka…Bidaai were doing decent when Star pulled the plug on them as well.”

Lead actor Harsh Rajput says, “I have not heard any such chatter. Plus the fact that we are doing quite well even during the second innings of IPL death overs shows our mettle. I will go to the extent of saying that we have given rebirth to the late night 11 pm slot, which was out of sync for a long time.”

“Having said that, if the end does come, no regrets, for we have had a great journey. I personally got a chance to play so many different sub-characters, Davansh’s double role, etc,” ends he.

We tried to get in touch with Star head honcho, Gaurav Banejree and Gul Khan, but could not get through to them till filing the story.
