Renowned Marathi and Hindi actor of stage, films and television, Ramesh Bhatkar passed away today after a battle with cancer for the last one year. He breathed his last at the Elizabeth Hospital in Mumbai.

He has worked in not just Marathi, but has done a couple of films in Hindi as well. He became a household name with the Marathi TV series Hello Inspector and Damini.

Bhatkar, who was 70, son of popular music director Snehal Bhatkar, was an actor for three decades.

He is survived by his wife and son.

Ironically today 4 February happens to he World Cancer Day and a life gets lost on the same day.
