Ankit Narang, who was last seen in Colors TV and Rajshri Productions’ show Manpasand Ki Shaadi, will be seen playing an obsessive lover in Rajshri Productions and Jio Studios’ upcoming web series, Sangamarmar on JioHotstar. It will be a multi-generational family setup with Sourabh Raaj Jain and Sheen Dass playing the leads.

Ankit Narang, who essays a very predominant role in the narrative, is excited about his character’s layering in the series, where he plays an obsessive lover who will unsettle the calm ambience with his dark-sided layered character.

Talking about his role, Ankit tells IWMBuzz.com, “In Sangamarmar, my role is that of an obsessive lover, but it’s layered with a very deceptive simplicity. On the surface, he’s a fun-loving, easy-going guy—someone you’d never suspect of having a dark side. But as he falls for Amrita, this obsession begins to bleed through. It’s a chilling kind of intensity where his love feels violent even when he isn’t being physically aggressive, and yet, there’s a strange calmness to his actions. It’s the kind of role that plays with the audience’s mind.”

Comparing the role to his earlier works, Ankit says, “It’s worlds apart from my previous work. I’ve played the pure protagonist and the clear-cut villain, but this role in Sangamarmar sits right in the middle. It’s a perfect mishmash of light and shadow. It takes the vulnerability of my positive roles and mixes it with the intensity of my dark ones. After all these years in the industry, I’d easily call this one of my most defining performances.”

On the concept of Sangamarmar, he states, “At its heart, Sangamarmar is the story of Amrita and Aditya. It’s a deeply moving narrative about two people who are profoundly in love but are constantly thwarted by the circumstances of their lives. Despite their intense connection, they are never quite able to give their love a ‘happy ending.’ It’s really Amrita’s journey—how life throws these impossible situations at her, turning her world upside down, and how she navigates a love that is felt deeply but can never be fully expressed.”

On his inspiration to play this role, Ankit avers, “I was intrigued by the idea of an ‘Internalised SRK from Darr.’ He has that same level of dangerous obsession, but he wraps it in a very soft, approachable personality. He doesn’t need to be loud to be scary. Playing a character who is simultaneously soft and intimidating is a rare tightrope walk, and that’s exactly what drew me to Sangamarmar.”

On his expectations from the series and role, he states, “I’m going into this with a grateful heart rather than a list of expectations. This character was a spiritual journey for me, and working with Rajshri is, quite simply, the greatest opportunity an actor can ask for. My only expectation is from myself—to stay true to the craft. As for the audience, I hope they see the effort we’ve put in, but I’m happy just to have been a part of something so special.”

On his future work, he quips, ”There’s definitely more in the pipeline. But for now, my focus is on ‘Suckcessful Shaadi,’ a project I’ve launched with Sheen Dass, who’s an exceptionally great actor, whom I befriended while shooting Sangamarmar with her. We’re creating content that really resonates with people, and the traction we’re getting is just amazing. It feels great to connect with the fans on such a personal level. So, between upcoming roles and ‘Suckcessful Shaadi,’ there’s a lot to look forward to!”

Best of luck!!
