Ashmit Patel, the Bollywood actor and director, has been working his way into varied digital acting roles and has also been enjoying his run as a professional DJ. His latest releases on the acting front include Peshawar, State Vs Ahuja, Scammy Boys, etc.
Valentine’s Week has kicked off, and Ashmit has always liked to keep his personal space private. However, he stresses how his perception of the day has changed with age.
Ashmit says, “I have vivid memories of celebrating Valentine’s Day when I was younger. I have to say that it was a bit more stressful as a teenager, as I was not earning money then. I was dependent on my dad. It was stressful as you had to plan something cool, buy a gift for your partner, which cost money. I am hyper-independent as a person. So I don’t like taking money from my parents. So that phase was stressful, to be honest.”
Ashmit admits that he is stress-free now as his perceptions have changed with time. “As you grow up, you realise that it is another day. It is a hallmark created day. You don’t have to stress so much to make your partner, friends, parents or anyone close to you happy. I believe that Valentine’s Day should not be restricted to only the romantic partner. I am all for celebrating. The more the celebrations in life, the happier we are. Life is to be celebrated. But I don’t identify with the pressure surrounding me during the day anymore.”
