Anusha Mishra steps into Umesh Mehra’s Office – Office Chali Mussaddi Ki Beti with the kind of excitement only a lifelong fan can bring. For her, joining this legacy felt less like a career move and more like answering a calling.

She said, “Office Office was and is one of the most iconic comedy shows in India, and the moment I received the audition script, I knew I had to do my best to score the part. Who doesn’t want to be associated with such a legacy? I didn’t know who would be producing it or directing it, but I couldn’t let go of the opportunity to be a part of the reboot of such an iconic, hilarious show. I hope the new show & the new characters will be liked, hopefully as much as the old show.”

As Bhatiya, she leans into chaos with charm, discovering a new avatar in every episode. She said, “I am playing the role of Bhatiya, and with each episode, we get to explore different looks & vibes for all the characters. They even gave Bhatiya different first names for each episode—sometimes Cop ke avatar mein Bulbul Bhatiya, sometimes casting director ke avatar mein Cutie Bhatiya, and so many different versions.”

“Bhatiya is a menace in the office; she’s thodi loud, she’s thodi chaalaak, but most importantly, she’s a full-on chatori. She’s very food-motivated. Khaana paani pehle, duniya ka saara kaam baad mein. Kisiko koi bhi kaam karvana ho, Bhatiya ko chai samose pakode Chinese khilao,” she added.

Her love for comedy runs deep, but working in the genre has reshaped her understanding of what it demands. She said, “Comedy and horror have always been my favourite genres to watch, and watching post-movie interviews of all the actors has been sort of a guilty pleasure of mine. So, whenever I heard this line from actors growing up, I never really understood it, because comedy mein seriousness kaise ho sakti hai? It’s supposed to be fun and funny, right? This is what I thought.”

“Ever since I stepped into the acting world, touch wood, I have only been part of comedy projects. From ‘Tera Kya Hoga Alia’ to ‘Dreamgirl 2’ to now ‘Office Office,’ one thing I have understood & stand by is that ‘comedy is serious business!’. Comedy is extremely technical, whether it be the writing process, the direction to ensure the words come alive in the most humorous way, or the acting bit, hitting the right mark, getting the right timing, or the perfect emphasis and tonality to deliver a line,” Anusha added.
