Actress Mridula Oberoi, who is known for her work in television shows like ‘Kumkum Bhagya’, ‘Appnapan – Badalte Rishton Ka Bandhan’, ‘Baghin’ and ‘Yeh Hai Chahatein’ and web series ‘The Final Call’, has carved a niche for herself with her versatile performances. Now, the actress has stepped into a new role behind the camera as a producer, a move she says was part of a long-term plan.
Talking about her new chapter, Mridula said, “This year I have stepped into production, which has been a long-term plan for me and not an overnight decision. It is something I have been manifesting and working towards for a very long time.”
“My journey before acting has played a huge role in shaping this decision. My years in management, banking and education, along with the time I have spent working behind the scenes on different productions, observing how things work, have all contributed to this new chapter,” she added.
The actress shared that she consciously started with TV and has now moved to the vertical space.
“I have always been someone who wants to understand the complete process, not just be in front of the camera. So I consciously started with a few TV projects to understand the ground reality of production, and now I have moved into the vertical space, which is booming and creatively very exciting. I am taking it step by step, learning every day, creating content that I believe in. With Bappa and Mahadev’s blessings, I hope this journey gradually leads me towards bigger and more meaningful projects,” she said.
Highlighting the difference between acting and producing, Mridula said, “Being an actor and being a producer are two very different responsibilities. As an actor, you are focused on your craft, your character, your performance. As a producer, you are responsible for the entire set and every person on it.”
“And because I have experienced both sides, I understand the importance of creating a safe, respectful and comfortable environment for actors, especially women. For me, the little things matter the most — basic hygiene, dignity, privacy, silence in vanity rooms, and giving an actor the space and peace to focus and perform without any discomfort. I am genuinely enjoying being on both sides of the camera, and I am excited for whatever this new chapter brings,” she concluded.
On the work front, Mridula continues to balance acting and producing, exploring new stories in the vertical space while also entertaining audiences on television.
