Talented young actor and model Manasi Rachh who made her debut in the movie Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge and has been part of Karan Johar’s movie Student of the Year is now busy working on her web projects.

She’s presently seen in Viu India‘s web-series, Truth or Tamanna? produced by Frames Productions. In an otherwise glam show with music and dance as the basic premise, Manasi plays a very different character, that of Jacky, the tom-boy kind of a studious AD, who always thinks of work more than how she looks.

Says Manasi about this experience to IWMBuzz.com, “The role and series was quite good. This is a series wherein every character is involved some way or the other in the mystery of the plot. As far as Jacky goes, she comes across as a character with more lightness, till the time the story takes to a new serious turn. The show is otherwise very serious; begins at a very high, like an adrenalin rush. So this character of Jacky comes as a breather, wherein she does stupid things and comes across as funny initially, post which things go ugly.”

“The Director on the series was Pushkar Mahabal and this is the first time I worked with him. Most of my scenes were with Priyanshu Jora and it was amazing. We became very comfortable, and became great friends. He is a great actor as well,” she states.

On the growth of the digital platform, Manasi avers, “The web space is growing like insane. I have already done two web-series after Tamanna. In Tamanna, the character was not the biggest character of my career; it was a smaller thing. But it was an interesting team and ambience to be in.”

The character of Jacky in Truth of Tamanna? is an AD by profession, and this holds a special place in Manasi’s heart, just because she started her career in the industry as an AD. “When you are an AD, you have to have your heart at work. Most women Ads are go-getters, wear what they get, rush and get your work done. They are very articulate about things; it’s not about vanity, but more about doing things. It was fun to play this role actually.”

Talking about her earlier days of turning into an actor from being an AD, she recollects, “On weekends, I used to go and assist as AD in a theatre group. I used to chill, learn and work. On one certain day, there was an actor who did not turn up, and I was given that chance to portray the role. It was a very complicated play, with an ensemble cast, with lot of entries and exits. I was told to shout out my line loudly and people used to clap (laughs). This is how I started out as an actor. All of my learning or understanding of cinema comes because I was an AD. I learnt everything myself on the set. So I started doing shows on theatre. Eventually I realized I enjoy acting so much, and wanted to work on it as my career. That’s when I made my choice. After that, God has been kind (smiles).”

“After doing some movies, I have started working on web-series. My first series was Dolly Ki Shaadi for SIT. Then came Tamanna and I will be seen in It’s Not That Simple Season 2 for VOOT,” she adds.

About her future, she states, “Anything interesting will do. I have been very lucky that lot of renowned people have cast me for different kind of characters. The journey has been nice. So I am looking forward to roles that are different from what I have done before. I would love to be part of Sacred Games 2 (smiles). I am looking at more good work, whether it is films or web-series.”

All the best, Manasi!!
