Karishma Sawant talks about the ‘start-to-end’ concepts on the OTT medium, calls it an advantage

Karishma Sawant, who captured the hearts of audiences as Aarohi in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, is delighted to bring some joy to her fans. Her latest web series, Ghar Tera Mera, produced by Balaji Telefilms and available on the Kutingg App, offers a mix of comedy with a hint of suspense. Karishma expresses her gratitude to her fans for their patience during her break after Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and hopes they enjoy her new project.

Talking about the project and what she liked the most about it, Karishma is honest to say, “The most exciting aspect of Ghar Tera Mera for me was that there was no histrionics related to ratings. There was no big drama in the series; it was realistic, and I had a good scope for performance.”

Speaking about her earlier character of Aarohi and the present one of Reena, she says, “This series is light-hearted. When I played Aarohi in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, the focus was on intense drama. If we talk about similarities, Reena and Aarohi are ambitious and smart. Neither of my characters is shown as naive. Women of 2026 are not naive; we are allowed to be real, we are allowed to be flawed.”

She goes on to say, “TV is my first love. Having said that, OTT projects have their own advantages. The concepts have pre-conceived stories with a beginning and an end. Nothing is dragged beyond a point. The stories are written earlier, and there is creative liberty to execute it to the fullest.”

Karishma speaks about creative freedom in roles, saying, “I have been lucky to have worked with the best of people. Aarohi was lovely to play. This show has suspense as well as comedy. Freedom is usually given to the genre of comedy. And yes, the web-series format gives an actor the best of creative freedom.”

Speaking about OTT medium and its advantages, Karishma says, “The attention span of people is reducing, but the interest in art is increasing. People want to watch limited series, but in an engrossing manner.”

Last but not least, she thanks her fans for the long wait. “My fans have been excited and waiting for my return to the acting space after Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. So this is for them. I hope they enjoy this series as much.”
