Kim Jones is having a very busy year. Before FENDI’s artistic director could recover from the high of organising a surprise sartorial swap with Donatella Versace, he was drawn to another creative partnership: the premium fashion house’s collaboration with shapewear mogul Kim Kardashian West’s SKIMS.
“My crew and I were seated around a table at the studio in Rome when the idea for the partnership came to us. All the women fell silent and began gazing at their phones at the same time. I had no idea what was going on, but they were anticipating the release of the new SKIMS line. “It was then that I thought, ‘Let’s work together on something,'” he recalls.
Kardashian West is said to have then sent several products to her namesake before meeting in Cabo San Lucas in March for a brainstorming session. As far as we know, the rest is history.
