Actor, singer and filmmaker Mir Salman, who hails from Kashmir and has gained recognition for his work in films and streaming series, recently got candid about love, relationships and what he would have been if not an actor.
Mir is known for his roles in prominent films We Are Faheem & Karun, Amaran and Baramulla. His television and streaming credits include notable military and espionage dramas such as Tanaav, Shoorveer and Avrodh: The Siege Within.
Sharing his take on love and relationships in today’s time, the actor said, “Today there are so many labels and so many ideas about what a relationship should look like that we end up making something beautiful unnecessarily complicated. There are societal expectations, relationship expectations around love, marriage, timelines, and what a ‘successful’ relationship is supposed to be. And I think that phrase ‘should be’ creates a lot of problems. We start measuring what we have against what we think it should be. I feel we sometimes get so anxious about finding the right person that we forget to actually experience love. We are so busy looking for the perfect that we miss what’s real. So I’d say, don’t be anxious about it. Love will come to you, sooner or later. And when it does, it won’t matter who it is, how it happens, or whether it fits somebody else’s definition. You will just know what it means to you, and that is enough.”
When asked what he would be doing today if not an actor, Mir said, “Probably something completely different. If not an actor, I think I could have ended up in sports, because I’ve always been drawn to it since childhood. There’s something about that discipline and energy that has always excited me. Or I could have been a detective. I’ve always had this curious mind; I like to observe people, figure things out, connect the dots. So that would have been interesting. And strangely, I also think I would have enjoyed research and development. Just sitting in a lab, trying to figure something out, working on something new. So yeah, it’s quite a range. Either I’d be running around in a field, or solving crimes, or sitting in a lab trying to invent something. I guess I have always been someone who likes to stay curious, no matter what the field is.”
