Streaming exclusively on the Story TV app, Scam 2024 – The Digital Arrest Story dives deep into the unsettling world of cybercrime through three central characters: the victim Priya Sharma (Vidya Malavade), the determined investigator Raj Thakur (Vineet Raina), and the tech-savvy mastermind behind the fraud network, Vicky Mandal, played by Pratik Sehajpal.
Portraying the antagonist has given Pratik a sharp perspective on how modern cybercriminals operate, making him a passionate advocate for digital awareness and online safety.
Reflecting on how rapidly technology evolves and how difficult it can be for older generations to keep up with everyday digital advancements, Pratik points out the fundamental divide between tech-savvy youth and their elders. “Our parents are educated, but they may not be as familiar with technology as we are.”
Bringing the threat closer to home, Pratik shares his own personal anxieties regarding how modern cybercriminals use sophisticated and intimidating tactics—such as fraudulent video calls and malicious links—to trap unsuspecting targets. “I sometimes worry that my mother might receive a suspicious link and click on it, or get a video call that scares her.”
Underscoring the core message of the series, Pratik emphasises that proactive education and open conversations within families are our strongest lines of defence against online fraud. “I think it is very important to spread awareness among our families and senior citizens so that they understand what is happening around them and do not fall into such traps.”
