Vikram Kochhar the talented actor who is known for his performance in Sacred Games has had a good run of late in the webspace.

Vikram is part of the ALTBalaji series Cartel and Dr Donn and will be seen in few upcoming films which also include Killing Of My Husband along with Aahana Kumra.

Vikram’s recent presentation on the webspace is the mighty MX Player series Raktanchal, the terrorizing drama series. He plays the antagonist Sanki Pandey, the man who is unpredictable and ruthless in his actions.

What’s interesting here is the fact that Vikram has predominantly entertained audiences with his comic timing and light-hearted roles in films and web.

Now playing this dramatic negative character in Raktanchal, Vikram states, “This is a very different character. Sanki Pandey is somebody who does not believe in any kind of rules. He is a rebel, ruthless in his behaviour. At the same time, he is witty and a fun-loving guy too. He does what he enjoys doing.”

Ask Vikram how challenging was it to shed his comic nature and become more ruthless on screen, and he states, “Generally, both comedy and the negative roles comes with their own charm to perform. What comedy has taught me is to sustain. It is necessary for a comic actor to sustain it for a long period with his energy. Comedy is something where you need to keep the screen charged. In a serious role, the charge in within you inside, but is brought out by the cinematographer, director etc. In an intense character, you stay with the subtext and with one context. But in a comic character, you constantly try to entertain yourself and others in the present time. While playing this character, I tried to explore a lot of new things.”

“I feel the level of enjoyment is there in doing both the comic and intense characters. Both emotions have their own charm and are equally challenging.”

Ask him about the USP of Sanki Pandey and he avers, “He is witty, blunt and very unpredictable. I binge-watched Raktanchal yesterday and it has come out well.”

“People who are acquainted with series like Sacred Games, Paatal Lok, Mirzapur, The Famly Man, Made In Heaven, the A-tier audience might not like to watch this series. We hope that over the period of time, the series hits the right chord with the A-tier audience too. Generally, people subscribing to Netflix, or Amazon consider watching on other platforms as secondary choices. But there is a hope that this trend changes.”

Talking on his look in the series, Vikram states, “Yes, he has been given a scar on his face and that makes him scary. In fact, there is a back story to the scar which has been cut. I wanted that scene to be there, but it was not to be. I tried to give it a different kind of a look. I also did little things like keeping the hair shabby. His biggest misfit is his rich clothes and this makes his look all the more interesting.”

On his next few words that are in pipeline he states, “I have another web-series on MX player, that is Prakash Jha’s Ashram. That is a big one for MX Player. I hope the series does really well.”

Vikram will also be seen in a few films which might see an OTT release. “I have shot for this Indo-Hollywood film No Land’s Man with Nawazuddin Siddiqui. I also have Killing Of My Husband, Shadow Of Othello starring Sanjay Mishra in the central character. I have also shot for Modiji Ki Beti, on the lines of Tere Bin Laden.”
