Ghar Tera Mera, backed by Balaji Telefilms, on Kutingg App, is a fast-paced comedy with unpredictable drama. Shehzad Shaikh and Karishma Sawant play the lead in the series. We at IWMBuzz.com got in touch with Shehzad Shaikh, where he talked about his role and the growth of the digital medium.

Says Shehzad, “This project, Ghar Tera Mera, was a chance offer and came to me when I least expected it. I love comedy, and I agreed to do the role after half an hour of receiving the script. Within 24 hours, I was shooting for the project.”

Talking about the role, he says, “Normally, I have taken up roles that are intense, emotional and roles that have a lot of sentimental drama. This was the first time I got to play a carefree character, where I did not have to think twice about anything. It was fun, it was free. It was a completely different genre, and I enjoyed doing it.”

When asked about the growing trend of YouTube/web platforms when compared to television, Shehzad categorically says, “Television will always have its place. It is just how you cannot replace Dal Chawal in someone’s house; similarly, you cannot replace television from the industry or community. It will survive as it has always survived. Having said this, you should always be open to change. So embracing the world of web and digital formats is part of the change.”

Talking about the digital platform being more of a creatively free medium, he states, “Creative freedom is always up to the creative directors and makers of the show. So if you are in line with what they want to make, it works out. The digital platform is a lot more bold and open, and you can do a lot more things that you cannot do in a traditional GEC platform.”

He adds on, “The digital medium is already booming and is doing very well for itself. That is why big production houses like Balaji Telefilms have come up with apps like Kutingg. I think the business is in full flow, and they are investing in the right place.”

Lastly, he expresses that his journey with the series was one fun-filled ride. “I had a blast working on the show. Every day was joyous with laughter and improvisations. I got to meet kind and generous people, who were very open to working together and creating something that we can be proud of.”
