Sudeep Sarangi, who is known to accept varied challenging roles in his long career, is all set to return to the Tamil film industry with the Harish Kalyan starrer film Dashamakan. Sudeep is presently winning hearts in the sports-based microdrama series on Quick TV, titled Super Over, produced by Viransh Studios.
Sudeep takes on the role of Hanumanta, the arrogant and mean-spirited coach who serves as the antagonist. What’s particularly interesting about the series is that each short episode ends with significant cliffhangers tied to his character, which has left a lasting impression on viewers.
The series has Aryan Arora and Aditi Rawat in the main roles and follows the redemption journey of a former Ranji Trophy hero whose life takes a turn after a tragic loss in a Super Over.
Sarangi’s performance has garnered praise for his portrayal of the negative character, infused with a touch of dark humour that has resonated strongly with the audience. Additionally, this series holds particular significance for Sudeep, as it marks his debut in the vertical space.
We talked to him about the dark humour element in his antagonistic portrayal, and he said, “Yes, I wanted to play Hanumanta very differently. The goal was that viewers should love to hate him. I have looked upon thespian actors like Prakash Raj and Paresh Rawal, who have stood their ground in the negative characters they have played, even when giving the laugh moments with their humour. The aim with Hanumanta was to create a happy laughable zone while seeing him, even while his negative attributes opened up.”
Sudeep Sarangi was seen in the &TV show Gharwali Pedwali recently.
