Debattama Saha plays the lead role of Heer in Ishika Shahi’s new show, Heer Sharma Gayi. Produced by Rajan Shahi under his banner, Director’s Kut Production, the series streams on their official YouTube channel. Debattama shares that the story is very interesting, and she is looking forward to the audience’s response to it.

She says, “I’m genuinely very excited. Heer Sharma Gayi has been a beautiful experience for me, and I can’t wait for people to watch it. It’s a rom-com, and I absolutely love the genre. I’m also very curious to see the audience’s reactions, especially to some moments that were new and challenging for me as an actor.”

“When I first heard the story, it immediately felt like something I wanted to be a part of. It sounded really interesting and fresh. The makers wanted me to portray Heer in a certain way, and I connected with that vision. I’m really glad I said yes because it turned out to be a very fulfilling journey,” she adds.

Debattama reveals that during the script reading sessions, she couldn’t stop laughing at certain points. She says, “The dialogues are hilarious, and I’m a very expressive person, so I ended up laughing out loud in front of everyone. It was one of the most cheerful and enjoyable readings I’ve ever had.”

She reveals that Heer is very different from anything she has played before and said, “Almost a 180-degree opposite. Usually, I’ve played more traditional, obedient characters, but Heer is nonchalant, happy-go-lucky, and does what she wants. She’s a nice girl, but in a very different way.”

“People sometimes misunderstand her, and even her actions can be questionable, but that’s what makes her interesting. It’s beautiful to see how she navigates life and love,” she adds.

However, she mentions that there were moments while playing the character that were challenging. She says, “There was a particular scene I wasn’t very comfortable doing because I had never done something like that on screen before. It was quite shocking for me, and I even discussed it with my parents. I also spoke to Ishika about it, but she convinced me to trust the character and go for it.”

“I’m glad I did, though I’m still a little nervous and excited to see how audiences react,” Debattama ends.
