Trailer Review: ALT Balaji’s badass Bose

Finally a web show which excites your iris...

Subhash Chandra Bose is an iconic figure. His story of freedom struggle valour coupled with the mysticism of sudden disappearance has always caught the fancy of the masses.

It is not for the first time that someone is attempting to tell his story on screen, be it celluloid or television, however the approach till date has been a rather over the top reverential.

ALT Balaji’s, the OTT platform, Bose-Dead/Alive brings in a certain swag and freshness, quintessential ingredients to connect with today’s youth.

The trailer plays the dead or alive card right at the beginning generating immediate curiosity. As the story nodes gradually open scene by scene in the trailer, giving a glimpse of the great Bose’s life span, the eagerness to binge watch amplifies considerably.

Rajkummar Rao as Bose is not perfect fit but he brings a certain quirk and cadence which make him likeable. He finds his own as Bose, breeding a new experience, treading a new character path.

The trailer is fresh, the scenes beautifully captured, background score blends seamlessly with the edit and overall, it manages to preserve the pivotal patriotic fervour and flavour throughout.

Three cheers to Ekta Kapoor and team for aiming high, not playing safe, and pushing the boundaries. Alert Netflix, our desi badass Bose is here to wreak havoc.

Looking forward.
