In response to rumours that the relationship caused Sergey Brin, a co-founder of Google, to sell his stock in Musk-owned companies, the Tesla CEO has denied having an affair with Nicole Shanahan. Musk, who also owns SpaceX, stated on Twitter, “This is total bs. Sergey and I are friends and were at a party together last night! I’ve only seen Nicole twice in three years, both times with many other people around. Nothing romantic,” Musk and Shanahan allegedly had a brief liaison in Miami in early December, and as a result, Brin filed for divorce in January.

Additionally, the long-standing friendship between Musk, and Brin, who supported the electric car manufacturer during the 2008 financial crisis, has recently come to an end. After learning about the relationship, Brin recently urged his advisors to withdraw his shares in Musk’s firms. At Miami’s Art Basel in December, Musk had an affair with Shanahan, and the Journal claims that Musk afterwards asked Brin for forgiveness. Despite having a written agreement, the Journal reported that Shanahan is demanding more than $1 billion from Brin in their settlement negotiations.
