The trend has seen many of the best-selling novels being adapted to stories on the web platforms. From Netflix to ZEE5 to Sony LIV, many streaming platforms have told stories adapted from novels.

A Married Woman, the series on ALTBalaji, explores the theme of love beyond genders. The series is adapted from the novel of Manju Kapur, which went by the same name. The series starred Ridhi Dogra in an unusual role.

A Suitable Boy, the Netflix series produced by BBC and directed by Mira Nair, has been adapted from Vikram Seth’s celebrated novel by the same name. The series had big names Tabu, Ishaan Khatter, Ram Kapoor playing central roles.

Bard of Blood, the spy thriller web series directed by Ribhu Dasgupta and produced by Red Chillies Entertainment for Netflix is based on the 2015 espionage novel of the same name written by Bilal Siddiqui. The series had Emraan Hashmi, Kirti Kulhari, Sobhita Dhulipala and many others in the central cast.

Hello Mini, the web series created by Applause Entertainment for MX Player was directed by Faruk Kabir. The series is adapted from Novoneel Chakrabory’s Stranger Trilogy. The series had Anuja Joshi, Priya Banerjee, Mrinal Dutt playing central roles.

Leila, the Indian dystopian drama web series directed by Deepa Mehta, aired on Netflix. The series was based on the 2017 eponymous novel by Prayaag Akbar, and follows the story of Shalini who tries to find her missing daughter. The series had Huma Qureshi in the central cast.

Sacred Games, the thriller web series of Netflix was directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap and produced by Phantom Films. The series was based on Vikram Chandra’s 2006 novel of the same name. The series had Nawazuddin Siddique, Radhika Apte, Saif Ali Khan playing central roles.

Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story, the series created by Applause Entertainment was directed by Hansal Mehta for Sony LIV. The series is adapted from journalist Sucheta Dalal and Debashish Basu’s 1992 book The Scam: Who Won, Who Lost, Who Got Away. The series had Pratik Gandhi playing the titular role.

Selection Day, the sports based web series that streamed on Netflix was based on Aravind Adiga’s 2016 novel. The series was produced by Anil Kapoor and Anand Tucker. The series had Nawazuddin Siddique in the lead role.

State of Siege: 26/11, the ZEE5 web series created by Abhimanyu Singh was based on Sandeep Unnithan’s book Black Tornado, written in 2008. The series had Arjan Bajwa, Vivek Dahiya, Mukul Dev, Arjun Bijlani and others in central cast.

The Final Call, the thriller web series for ZEE5 directed by Vijay Lalwani was based on the Priya Kumar novel of 2015, ‘I Will Go With You: The Flight Of A Lifetime’. The series had Arjun Rampal in the central cast.
