One of the leading OTT platforms has offered Sanjay Leela Bhansali a whopping Rs180 crores for the digital premiere of his latest underproduction film Gangubai Kathiawadi. Bhansali has politely declined the tempting offer.At a time when the biggest of producers are selling out to the OTT platform with the excuse that a theatrical release is still largely uncertain, this resolute refusal to give in to the quick-buck scheme is commendable.
Says a source close to the development, “Sanjay Bhansali has nothing against the digital platform.He may one may eventually make content the OTT platform.But not right now.All his motion pictures so far are large-screen appearances.Gangubai Kathiawadi is no exception.”
